Weight Loss Diet -
The Concept of Calorie-In Calorie-Out
Return to... Page 2
On important
thing to remember is that as you lose weight your caloric
requirements will also reduce. A 300 pound man will need more
calories to maintain 300 pounds compared to a man who is 250
pounds. Over time as you start to lose weight you will have to
either eat decreasing amounts of food or bump up your exercise
increasingly to keep up you slimming diet effect going. Remember
that if you calculate the number of calories consumed versus the
amount of calories expelled then science will take over and
determine if you gain or lose weight. There is no running away from
this.
One other thing
that you have to understand is that the body is an ever-changing
and ever-growing organism. There is no time in your life that your
body will sit still. If there is added pressure on your body to
perform it will adapt and become more efficient at doing the job
and thus expel less calories for the amount of work done. Say for
example you are used to running for 20 minutes on the treadmill;
you will initially burn 500 calories when the machine will report
that you burned 400 calories. 1 month later when your
cardiovascular system has improved greatly through the constant
pressure that you are subjecting your body too, you will only burn
300 calories for the same 20 minutes run even though the machine
will still report that you burned 400. What I am getting at is that
as you become fitter from the exercise you do, you must do more
exercises with greater intensity to get your body to burn the same
amount of calories as you did before. There really is nothing you
can do about your body adapting to the stresses that it is
subjected too, that’s just the way nature intended. Just be happy
that with your increase in strength or stamina that your health is
benefiting greatly from it.
Of all the traits
that we thing is most important for weight loss to be successful is
gumption and dedication. The information is already available; it’s
just a matter of controlling what you eat and getting enough
exercise down that you are in a constant state of caloric deficit
that you will eventually see success. You must also have the
dedication and single-mindedness to see it through for months on
end. It is only through these measures that you will be able to see
success in your weight loss endeavors.
After all these
years, it is only now that medical journals and similar
publications decide to show us the truth when it comes to weight
loss. No doubt there will be people out there that are still going
to sing the diet song to their tune however with the confirmation
that this is the only way to successfully understand and see
results is to keep to this principle and work on it for months on
end. Remember always that weight loss is a multi billion dollar
industry and the only way the industry can survive is to fee you
different information from different sources hoping that will jump
from one diet to another so you can spend more money. It is only
non-profit sites like this that can offer you information that is
free from bias too.
