Why the Starvation Diet is Not Recommended
The first and the strongest argument that those in the nay camp would use is that the Starvation Diet is inherently a very high risk diet with only and over small possibility of slimming. It is so high risk that its benefit of losing weight does not outweigh the risks that you are exposed too when you are actually on diet. Some dieticians would describe taking the Starvation Diet as an extreme measure to solve a very simple problem. Some say that there are other diets that can achieve the exact same weight loss goals but with much less senseless stress on your body and mind.

The Starvation Diet is also not generally recommended because it actually causes your general health to deteriorate during the diet. Most dieters will have a compromised immune system during their dieting phase as the body will spend much of its energy working on breaking down the fats and the skeletal muscles to produce enough energy for your survival while still providing a little for your mobility needs.

Most health practitioners will argue that the best diets and weight loss regimes are those that help to get rid of fat while still preserving muscle mass and muscle tone. Of all the different diets that are available to dieters, the Starvation Diet striper of muscles. When you go into low-calorie mode in your Dieting Phase your body will go into ketosis and as a result will burn almost and equal amount of fat and muscle. The weakness that you will feel from the lack of nutrients will mean that you will be unable to exercise efficiently to maintain the muscles. This will cause your muscles to atrophy even further than if left normally. This is also one of the reasons why the Starvation diet works so well in losing weight.

Most modern weight loss diets and exercises will emphasize the need for the dieter to maintain muscle mass and tone. This is to keep them fit for the long run. As you lose muscle mass your body will first lose its overall strength and more vitally it also loses its ability to consume energy. If ever you gain weight again after the Starvation Diet you will have a much lower ability to lose weight as your muscles which were there previously would have withered in size and thus making it harder for you lose weight. Fat on the other hand will also decrease however if after you diet and somehow manage to gain all the weight back, you can be certain that 80% of the weight will be from the fat and not the muscle.

Some experts in the nay camp also say that due to the extreme calorie deficit, your body and mind is put through a lot of stress. Stress that the body normally isn’t used to especially in this modern age. This stress can have very profound physiological and psychological side-affects. Most of the time the first thing that the dieter will have to face is the strong feeling of tiredness and constant hunger. This in itself can be bad enough that some people find it hard to continue with the daily routines and even concentrate on their work properly. If you compound this with the psychological problems such as irritability and even sometimes delusion, people that are on the diet will find it difficult to keep their life performance up while on the diet.
