The idea of the
Cool-Down Phase is to slowly regulate your diet back to normal so
that you can maintain the weight that you are currently happy with
and you don’t put on any extra unwanted pounds in the future. The
first step is to move your diet back to the same calorie levels as
you had in the induction phase. Although some would argue that a
introduction of a mere 20% - 40% or your previous caloric
consumption is a bit small and is not a very good way to celebrate
your weight loss, it is an essential step to take so that you don’t
overeat and put back the pounds that you have lost and ultimately
failing with this slimming diet.
Most of the time
when people restore their diet to a caloric intake similar to the
one in their Induction Phase they will generally settle at that
stage and keep at it. This is because in the Dieting Phase a few
important things have happened. The first and most important is
that you have lost weight and now your body doesn’t need as much
nutrients to survive. Your stomach would also have lost a
considerable volume and thus even with the reduced food intake you
will still feel full from the “stretch” you stomach will experience
with the extra food taken in. Through the dieting phase you would
know what food stuffs you need to keep away hunger pangs and you
will also know what is needed to make your own body lose weight.
Each person’s body is different and thus all these have to be
learned by yourself. You should already have the knowledge of what
foods keep you full longer and also which foods you are
particularly sensitive too which can hinder your weight loss
efforts.
An important step
in the Cool-Down Phase is to remember your past dieting and obtain
as much information you can from it. At no time should you ever
revert back to the same level of calories that you had before the
diet started. That would simply reverse all the hard work that you
have done. The whole idea is that now you will feel happy and
satisfied with the reduced consumption of food.
Discussions
about the Starvation Diet Although most dietitians will tell
that that the starvation diet isn’t good and should not be followed
the facts cannot be denied. For those who have managed to lose
weight using this diet, they will swear on the long term
effectiveness and how they have actually learned to control the
body’s cravings etc from simply learning about the many different
feelings both physiological and psychological that this diet has
showed.
There are two
schools of though about the diet and very few people who lie in
between. Some have very negative thing to say about the diet while
some say that it is perfectly healthy and should be used if a
person is overweight and needs to lose weight. We will discuss both
schools of though below:
