Starvation Diet - Not the Answer and Why

In addition to the problem of hunger you will also be feeling the physiological and psychological effects. Physiologically speaking you will look weaker and feel weaker. It is quite normal for you to have a pale face and have dark shadows under your eyes as your body is spending a lot more energy converting your fat and muscle into energy for your body’s own vital processes. You will have very little energy to do much else than you regular job and come home to sleep. In this phase it is quite normal that most slimming dieters will stay away from exercise as it will make them even weaker. During the on-stage, it is normal to wake up feeling tired as your body will need to work over the night to convert your fat and muscles into useful energy.

Most of the time the shock of reduced calories also means that your body’s natural defenses against viruses and bacteria is slightly compromised. You have to be careful where you go and avoid places where a lot of people are for fear of catching something. Muscle aches and joint aches are also common as your body’s muscle and joint supports atrophy away in order to supply an energy source for your vital organs and survival.

As your dieting continues you will first be accustomed to the hunger pangs and soon you will be able to control them very easily. One of the hardest things to control is how a severely restricted calorie diet will affect you psychologically. The first and most obvious affect that the dieter will feel is tiredness. It will become hard for you to concentrate on things and will also make you reflexes suffer considerably. You will be slower in reaction than normal and also be a bit dull. You will also suffer from irritability and also apathy. Some dieters have even indicated that they have experienced bouts of neutotic behavior such as depression or hysteria. The affects of the severe calorie restriction will each person differently. It just pays to know that you aren’t going mad and everything that you are feeling is simply a by-product of your diet.

It is beneficial to know that this phase of the diet is the hardest and many people fail at this stage because of the sheer strength and will power that is needed to actively starve yourself when you know very well that there is food almost anywhere you look. Remember that you have a set weight loss goal and you should not pass your weight loss limit on this phase. This phase allows for very fast weight loss and should only be continued to the point where you are happy with your results. Constant use of this phase is dangerous and can cause severe mal-nutrition which is life threatening.

Cool-Down Phase
This is the last phase of the Starvation Diet. In this phase the dieter should already be happy with their results and is ready to close the chapter on this dieting and continue the rest of their lives. This phase exists because the majority of people who have been subjected to the Starvation Diet end up overeating when the go off the diet and start to put the pounds back on. An important part of the whole Starvation Diet is the cool down process after you have lost all the weight that you want.
