High in Fruits and
Vegetables
Our parents have always told us to eat more fruits and vegetables.
I don’t know why we didn’t listen to them but even they knew the
benefits of these food groups have on our health. The very first
thing that fruits and vegetables provide to us is a useful source
of almost all the required vitamins and some of the minerals that
we need to stay healthy.
One of the greatest marketing
miracles of the modern world is that people have been made to
falsely believe that they need their regular vitamin and mineral
supplements everyday to stay healthy. The real fact is that you
will need these supplements only if you have a diet that is
deficient in the vitamins and minerals in the supplements. Most of
us with the modern diets that we have will have more vitamins and
minerals than we could possibly need. Most of the essential
vitamins that we need come from vegetables and fruits that we take
in. We believe that if you have enough fruits and vegetables in
your diet that all the supplements that you have are not necessary
any longer.
Fruits and vegetables also
contain very important anti-oxidants which are very important for
our general health. It is particularly important as a cancer
preventing agent which we all know we can definitely do with a bit
more off. A recent study into the slimming diet differences in
people have actually pointed out that people who had a diet that
was richer in vegetables and fruits were actually less likely to
develop certain cancers like colon cancer and rectal
cancer.
In addition to the vitamins,
minerals and antioxidants that vegetables and fruits provide, they
are also a very important source of fiber. As mentioned previously,
fiber is a very important element in keeping your digestive system
in tip top condition.
